Teens & Adults

Teens and adults train together, building athleticism, confidence, and real self-defense skills – no experience required.

About the Teens & Adults Program

Our Teens & Adults program brings students ages 13 and up together in the same authentic ATA martial arts curriculum, with instructors who tailor pace and intensity to each student. Teens develop confidence, focus, and discipline during a pivotal stage of life, while adults gain a full-body fitness routine, practical self-defense skills, and stress relief. All experience levels are welcome, from complete beginners to experienced martial artists, and many students started training as teenagers, in their 30s, 40s, and beyond.

Teens & Adults FAQ

I have (or my teen has) never done martial arts. Is it too late to start?
Not at all. We have teens who start with zero experience at 13, 14, or 17, and adults who begin their first class in their 40s and 50s and go on to earn advanced belts. Classes group students by skill level, not just age, so beginners are never thrown in over their heads – instructors tailor the pace and intensity to each student's ability from day one.
What if I (or my teen) already have martial arts experience?
Experienced students fit right in. Classes are grouped by skill level, so anyone who has trained before is placed and paced according to their actual ability. Instructors advance experienced students through the curriculum accordingly, and often encourage them toward belt testing and leadership opportunities sooner.
What confidence and fitness benefits can I expect?
Teens report a real boost in confidence and school performance as belt progression gives them a structured way to set goals and earn real accomplishments. Adults typically notice improved cardiovascular endurance, core strength, flexibility, and stress relief within 2–3 months of regular training. Across both age groups, training in a supportive group builds quiet confidence that carries into everyday life.
Is sparring required?
Sparring is introduced gradually, and beginners are never rushed into contact before they are ready. We use appropriate protective gear and our instructors carefully supervise all contact training. As students advance through the belt ranks, sparring becomes part of the required curriculum, but we always adjust pace and intensity to each student's comfort level and experience.
